Excellence in Training Since 1989

Whatever school you choose, make sure your medical coding training includes both inpatient and outpatient coding. Make sure that most coding graduates of the school pass (not just are eligible to take) both AHIMA's CCS exam (most schools do not provide enough training for graduates to be able to pass the CCS exam) and AAPC's CPC exam (It's not unusual for most schools to teach to that exam). Andrews School specializes in training students for outpatient and inpatient coding, and our graduates have a very high pass-rate on both of those credential exams. See below.

How To Enroll

We start new students individually, every week, so you don't need to wait until a new class starts. When you are ready to enroll, just go to our web site under Medical Coding, How to Apply. Scroll halfway down the page to the Enrollment Agreement link and instructions on how to complete it. If you have any questions as you are filling it out, contact andi@andrewsschool.com. Glenda, our Student Coordinator, can talk you through it or answer other questions you have. E-mail is preferred, but Glenda is also available by phone, (405) 694-8688, between 7:30 and 4:00 Central.

No Commissioned Sales - No Pressure
We don't contact you again unless it's at your request

The best way to get to know our school is through our Medical Coding Forum on Facebook where you can see students, graduates, staff, and instructors in action. See below. We don't have commissioned sales people. No free laptops, no discounts or special sales. We don't pay our students referral fees. Our students and graduates are not paid to make any kind comments or recommendations regarding our program. People tell me they are afraid to even give their name, phone number, or e-mail address since so many schools harass them, sometimes for years, by phone or e-mail, saying, 'What would it take for me to get you to sign up TODAY!" It's a good idea not to enroll with any school that pressures you to enroll by calling you, texting you, or e-mailing you without your permission. We don't do that. You will know if our program is right for you, and if it is, we'll be ready to welcome you.

The most important factor when you consider training options for medical coding is whether the course prepares you for the right credentials.

Andrews School prepares students for both AHIMA's CCS and AAPC's CPC, the most marketable Medical Coding credentials. Our students are ready to take AAPC's Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam at the end of our third module, about three-quarters of the way through our course, and they have ~96% first try pass-rate. Our graduates have ~97% first try pass-rate on AHIMA's Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) exam. The national pass-rate, according to AHIMA's web site, is 75%.

How Our Program Works

Everything is done online in this course, from your own home, using professional-level books which are included in the cost of tuition. You do not need to be present at any certain time of day. You do not need to visit the school in person. Our instructors are highly credentialed, with AHIMA's CCS and AAPC's CPC national certification. Instructors are also graduates of our Andrews School Medical Coding course. They can relate to students because they know the program inside and out. They know how it feels to go through the course from personal experience.

How Much It Costs

No-Interest Payment Plan:
The Medical Coding course costs $4,900. You may enroll with the minimum down payment, $600, $119.44/month.
The recommended down payment is $1,500, with a monthly payment of $94.44 if you prefer.

This is a 36-month payment plan. We don't charge interest, so there is no penalty for students who want to make a larger down payment or more than the required monthly payment. We do not participate in federal financial assistance programs, FAFSA, student loans or Pell grants, but our interest-free payment plan option is available to all students.

Our program is different from others because:

  • We do not charge interest
  • There are no payment penalties for not completing the course within one year or even within 20 months.
  • No extra charges for extensions

How Long It Takes

Length of Course: The course is designed to be completed within 1 year for full-time students, but the deadlines assigned are paced out for part-time students. You need 15-20 part time or 30-40 full time hrs/week to devote to your studies. There are assignments with very generous deadlines. If, for example, a student has 3 weeks to complete a certain assignment and takes the entire 3 weeks, possibly even requesting a deadline extension, it will take around 20 months or more to complete the course. Another student may finish the assignment in 3 days, shortening the time of the course to as little as 9 months for someone who has a very heavy medical background or a lot of time to spend on studies each week.

Advantages of Medical Coding Training Through Andrews School:

  • Our graduates do exceptionally well on the CCS exam. Many coders take it, but not everyone passes it. Andrews School graduates have an exceptionally high pass-rate, ~97%. AHIMA's posted annual pass rate for 2015-2017 is 75% for the CCS. That even includes experienced medical coders.
  • Students learn both outpatient and inpatient coding. They typically pass both CPC (AAPC) and CCS (AHIMA) credential exams immediately after training, which is significant.
  • Course designed and instructed by credentialed coding instructors. Instructors have a minimum of both CPC and CCS credentials and must be graduates of The Andrews School Medical Coding program.
  • Professional-level books you will need when you take credential exams and employment coding tests are included.
  • School is licensed by the Oklahoma Board of Private Vocational Schools, for the protection of students. Not all schools are licensed to operate.
  • Andrews School uses unique teaching techniques that have produced effective results since 1989.
  • Course goes from Beginning to Intermediate to Advanced level and is appropriate for those with a strong medical background as well as those starting from scratch.
  • No extra fees, even if you pass the time-frame during which the course is designed to be completed. No fees for extensions or sabbatical.
  • No special computer requirements. Use whatever computer you have. Study from your own home. No 'talking-head' videos or lectures.
  • Medical Billing is included in the Coding course. No need for an additional Billing course.
  • Deadlines are flexible and students set their own schedules within the deadlines. The days and times you study are up to you.

If you have more questions

Please let me know if you have any other questions and we will be very happy to answer them. Nobody will call or e-mail you again, but we'll always be happy to talk with you if you have any other questions or just want to talk to a real person. Glenda, our Student Coordinator, is in charge of enrollment registration, credit transfers from previous courses, and book shipping. She is available at Andi@AndrewsSchool.com or (405) 694-8688 between 7:30 and 4:00 Central.
